The Microtray line was developed by LINK in collaboration with Dr. Jack Nguyen. The designs feature innovative solutions for storage and workflow during a wide array dental procedures. The Microtray is designed to attach easily to surgical gloves and provide quick access to commonly used dental materials and disposables.

Our team visited Dr. Jack’s office to experience and observe the problem in person. He had some solutions in mind as a starting point so examining the need was the first step. Searching and transfering materials was a challenge both for the dentist and their assistants. With a product that attaches to your hand, we had to ensure we took ergonomics, safety, and ease of use into consideration. Filming and studying the activities performed gave us detailed insight into the parameters for the product.
Once we had refined the form through sketches and rough models, we moved into 3D printed prototypes to evolve the fit and function of the unit. This included the ability to easily remove tools and gauze during use as well as the liquid staying in the wells.
We cut a small aluminum tool to do a pilot run for feedback from dentists and assistants. This was critical in incorporating different features and getting input on the existing ones. It also gave us helpful insight into the fit of the unit on different sized hands and positioning.
